Yu Shan, the Jade Mountain
Yu shan, also known as the Jade Mountain, is located in the Yushan National Park, Taiwan. It is one of the highest peaks of Asia, with 13,114 feet height above sea level and the highest point on Taiwan.
This mountain was first called Mt. Morrison, when W. Morrison, captain of the American freighter USS Alexander, mentioned this mountain in his naval log after the ship's departure from Anping harbor in 1857. Since this became the first literary note of Jade Mountain in western history, hence the name "Mt. Morrison".
