Digital Art Festival, Taipei

The first
"Taipei Digital Art Festival" is scheduled to have its grand opening
from Nov. 10th to 19th. This event has invited many foreign artists to
participate, including the award winner of Golden Nica in Austria, Paul
DeMarinis. He will come to Taiwan to demonstrate his work of "Rain
Dance." Once people hold their umbrellas, they can hear beautiful
music. Another guest, Theo Jansen, is from the Netherlands. His works
have been very popular in Europe in recent years. He uses computer to
simulate the bone structures of creatures and makes them into huge but
light works. The internationally famous choreographer Ku Ming-shen and
British stage master Thomas Gray have planned for three years and they
will present the dance program "Memory Puzzle." This dance program will
be included in this festival. In addition, this festival includes four
new awards like "interactive equipment" "digital sound and image,"
"art of sounds" and "Internet art." The purpose is to provide more
space and opportunities for digital artists in Taiwan to present their
works.
