Hehuanshan is a 3.416m high mountain, part of the Central Mountain Chain that makes up the backbone of Taiwan, and has become a very popular destination to the people of central Taiwan.
A particularity of this mountain, is that its East Peak and its North Peak are both higher than the main peak, with 3.421m and 3.422m respectively.
Sun Moon Lake is located in Yuchih, Nantou, and is the largest lake in Taiwan, at 748 meters above sea level. We can find in the middle of the lake the Lalu Island, which is the holy ground for the Thao tribe. It is not permitted to swim in the lake, but there is an annual 3-km race called the Swimming Carnival of Sun Moon Lake, which is held near the Mid-Autumn Festival, along with other festivities with fireworks, laser shows, and concerts.
