Luodong is an urban town located in the central part of Yilan County, and its name comes from the Taiwanese aboriginal word Rutung. This town is famous for its large and beautifully landscaped sports park, and has a big night market featuring the local food. There is another park in Luodong, more family oriented than the sports park, and the community organizes dance clubs and recitals specially for the elders.
Yilan County is located in northeastern Taiwan and is famous for its ILan International Children’s Folklore and Folkgame Festival. This festival happens each summer at Dongshan River Water Park, and attracts countless children, and not so children, since 1996. Another famous festival is the Green International Film Festival in Taiwan, that started in 2004 and it is is a non-competition film festival that aims to build up an archive collection of the selected works for research and education.
